Staff

Denise Robinson, Executive Director 

Denise is a native to Vancouver Island and grew up in the Comox Valley. She graduated from Malaspina/ VIU with diplomas in Social Services and Business Management. She has served as Executive Director of Boys and Girls Club Ladysmith, Phoenix House Recovery Center, Clearview Detox and was the Regional Coordinator of the BC Foster Parents Association. She became a Caseworker with Big Sisters of Nanaimo in 1997 and saw the organization amalgamate with Big Brothers in 2001. She served as Executive Director/Caseworker and became our full time Executive Director in 2007. She has served us exceptionally for over 13+ years and she has seen our agency grow and evolve to what it is today. To her, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been an incredibly positive experience in her career. She has seen it make an incredible difference in the lives of children and looks forward to an exciting future for our agency.

 

Paulyne Robinson, Program Manager

Paulyne grew up in 100 Mile House, BC and has lived in Alberta and the United States. She received her diploma in Kamloops from Caribou College/Thompson Rivers University in Human Services. She has worked in a variety of capacities in Child and Family services over the years and moved to Duncan in 2003. In 2004, she joined the staff of Big Brothers Big Sisters Central Vancouver Island as a caseworker and has served us exceptionally since then. In 2007, her position changed and she became Program Manager. Her career with Big Brothers Big Sisters has been the most rewarding she has ever experienced and knows our programs make a real difference in the lives of children.

 

Andrea Carpio, Administration

Andrea grew up in the Philippines where she finished her Business Administration degree, then moved to Canada in 1991.  She first lived in Vancouver and Richmond, and then moved to Edmonton where she took the Modern Office Professional Training at Campbell College.  From January 2003 to August 2006, she worked at Can-Cell Industries - Edmonton Branch as an Accounts Receivable Clerk.  She then moved to Vancouver Island and got an opportunity to work as a Bookkeeper for Atlas Group and Companies until April 2009.  After taking a Medical Terminology course at VIU, then started working as a Bookkeeper for BBBSCVI.  She is also working part time as a Bookkeeper for Nanaimo Brain Injury Society.  She enjoys living and working in Nanaimo where she is meeting new friends, enjoying the weather and all the wonderful sceneries on the island.
