Support Pink Shirt Day and help end bullying!

On February 22, 2017 in Canada we will be celebrating National Pink Shirt Day which is an effort to treat everyone with kindness and respect and to draw attention to and end bullying in all it's forms. People are encouraged to wear a pink shirt, button or ribbon to help show support for Pink Shirt Day.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada has partnered with National Clothing Retailer Bootlegger to introduce two limited edition pink t-shirts (men's / women's) that have been created to promote kindness, compassion, diversity, and acceptance. Available online and in all 86 Bootlegger locations across Canada now through the end of February, The shirts sell for $29.90 ($24.90 plus tax) $5 from every sale goes directly towards Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.

Be a part of something BIG!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Vancouver Island is seeking volunteers to join to our committee and assist in the development and execution of an exciting annual signature event.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Vancouver Island Fund Development & Marketing Committee is a group of volunteers who work together to contribute to providing the highest quality mentoring programs for every child that needs a mentor in Central Vancouver Island.

Big Brothers Big Sisters depends on energetic, dedicated volunteers to fulfill our mission. Be a part of a rewarding experience in making a difference in lives of the youth in our community.
Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, or Events Management experience/skills are an asset, but not required
Criminal Record Check required 
The Committee meets monthly on the fourth Tuesday of the month, 
5:30 – 7:00 pm

New Group Programs in the New Year

We are happy to announce that we are offering three new Go Girls Groups in January (at Springwood Elementary in Parksville as well as Uplands and Forest Park Schools in Nanaimo). We are also planning two Game on Groups at Brechin and Georgia Avenue Schools in Nanaimo!




A BIG Welcome to Angelene Peter. Angelene is a graduated MBA student from VIU and is doing her internship with us! She is a Management Training Consultant, is visiting us from India and will be working primarily in the Big Deals Clothing Program.

Game on and Go Girls have wrapped!

The Game on Groups at Brechin and Georgia Avenue Schools and the Go Girls Groups at Uplands and Springwood School in Parksville have completed their respective programs.

We are happy to report that our Director of Service Delivery, Stephen Cochrane had an opportunity to attend the National Mentoring Symposium that was held in Banff! It was an excellent opportunity to network and learn from some excellent speakers who spoke to a very diverse group of organizations involved in mentoring children and youth.

Stephen said, "It was an excellent opportunity to learn alongside a great mix of organizations. Thank you Banff for an awesome symposium! I am filled with such positive emotion from making solid connections with people all across Canada! I will be the ripple!"


Westjetters for a day

Thank you Westjet for allowing Little Brothers Kalen and Colton to be "Westjetters for a day" at the Comox Airport. This gave them the opportunity to learn all about the aviation industry, Thank you for giving them this opportunity and your continued support for mentoring!

A BIG Thank you to everyone that came out to support our BARGAIN BIN GARAGE SALE on Saturday September 24th! The response was overwhelming and we are planning to host a sale on a regular basis so stay tuned for that! The sale raised over $500 that will be used to support our programs!
